Cadastral Data management is one of the most important areas of GIS. Cadastral Data defines how a geographical area is divided up through legally defined and, usually, geo-referenced boundaries and land ownership. This includes: parcels, lots, townships, tracts, community subdivisions, land use/zoning, right-of-ways, and easements. It is the linkage of attributes to cadastral data that make these data valuable to users.

Community infrastructure includes the electric power grid, telephone/communication networks, water and sewer systems, and neighborhood infrastructure such as sidewalks, roads, and parks. In infrastructure mapping, the services offered involve establishing accurate coordinate locations of point features of a network such as electric transfer stations and towers and the lines that connect them in a power grid and creating databases and shapefiles from which reference maps and lookup tables can be produced.

3D modeling and mapping involves converting LiDAR data or 2D shapefiles that have known vertical elevations associated with the 2D coordinates to three dimensional digital terrain and digital elevation models (DTM and DEM) along with terrain irregular networks (TIN).

Transportation mapping and analysis ranges from the basic preparation of reference maps showing the location and hierarchy of roads, rail lines, airports, and pipelines to complex maps combining reference and thematic maps that illustrate such parameters as traffic patterns, time dependent volume and system capacity, and network optimization including the location of distribution centers and route optimization.
